" Creativity comes from trust.

Trust your instincts, and never hope more than you work."

         -Rita Mae Brown

After graduating from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, with a BS in Advertising, Chris Ott returned to NYC, where she was born and raised, to start a career in the ad world. She spent a few years in post-production, where she learned the technical side of editing, and became an assistant editor, and a technician at the TV studios where programs like Sesame Street, Search for Tomorrow, and Nickelodeon’s Livewire were being shot.

Once in the ad world, Chris quickly moved up the ranks and became an Agency Producer. She spent many years on staff at several NY agencies, always having the good fortune to be associated with high end clients and big advertisers, in every category. This experience groomed her to be an award winning and very versatile producer. She’s a true problem solver, and gains the trust of her creative teams, her clients, and the vendors she works with so closely.

Chris has always been an automotive enthusiast, and grew up with a European Grandfather whose business was in foreign luxury cars. She still owns the 1969 Mercedes that belonged to him. After producing Mercedes-Benz work for twelve years at Merkley + Partners in NY, she moved to LA and entered the freelance world. With so much automotive work under her belt, the LA market is a good fit, and the move works for personal reasons as well. The new lifestyle becomes her as she continues to expand her network of people and resources, and has more freedom to choose which projects to take on.

Chris’s other area of expertise is Visual EFX, where she has a tremendous amount of experience as exhibited by her reel. Post-production, in general, has always been her favorite step in the process. Possessing an in depth understanding of the capabilities of VFX and editing allows Chris to continue to elevate her projects in post. In addition to producing commercials and other content, she occasionally takes on the role of Post-Production Supervisor for long form branded content projects, and virtual reality films, with complicated effects involved.  This work involves advising the production team and the director on decisions regarding post. It makes her a more well-rounded producer, and is a side of the business she really has a passion for.

Chris loves producing and its’ challenges. Her clients rely on her sense of humor and candor, her calm and reassuring demeanor, and her resourcefulness to troubleshoot difficult assignments. She is invested in building solid relationships with her team, and knows this leads to success.

To give back for being so fortunate in her rewarding career, Chris donates her time to the Youth Business Alliance, where she is a motivational speaker.  As part of the program, she shares her career with inner city high school students, all over Los Angeles, who she hopes to inspire.
